SAQA QUAL ID: 93793 (Credits 130 NQF LVL 3)
This qualification is made up of the 3 compulsory modules. The course duration is 12 months
and focuses on 3 areas, Knowledge module (theory based), Practical skill modules and
Workplace based modules. The qualification is an alternate to TETA’s qualification. This
qualification consists of quarterly written assessments and a final exam at year end.
Course Overview
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Truck Driver.
Truck drivers operate trucks with a GVM in excess of 3,500 kilograms and to ensure the safe
transportation of cargo from point of departure to point of arrival.
A qualified learner will be able to:
- Plan and prepare a truck for transportation.
- Operate a truck.
- Maintain operational documents and records
