This qualification is made up of the 3 compulsory modules. The course duration is 12 months
and focuses on 3 areas, Knowledge module (theory based), Practical skill modules and
Workplace based modules. The qualification is an alternate to TETA’s qualification. The
duration of this qualification is 12 months, consisting of quarterly written assessments and a
final exam at year end.
Course Overview
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate effectively as a Transport
Clerk. Transport Clerks manage and coordinate the logistics of transporting goods, ensuring
the efficient and accurate handling of shipping documentation, scheduling, and
communication between various stakeholders. They play a critical role in facilitating the
smooth movement of cargo from the point of departure to the point of arrival, while
adhering to regulatory requirements and optimizing transportation processes.
A qualified learner will be able to:
- Plan and prepare transportation logistics
- Manage shipping documentation
- Coordinate communication between stakeholders

The focus of the work experience is on providing the learner an opportunity to: Gain exposure to work as part of a team in developing a transport schedule within a real-life
transport environment. The Learner will be required to complete each work experience at least four
(2) times for a minimum period of 3 weeks.
The learner will be required to:
- Observe and assist an experienced transport scheduler develop a transport schedule
- Prepare and develop a transport schedule
- Autonomously prepare and develop a transport schedule

PURPOSE OF THE WORK EXPERIENCE MODULES
The focus of the work experience is on providing the learner an opportunity to gain exposure to
work as part of team in developing a transport schedule within a real-life transport environment.
The Learner will be required to complete each work experience at least four (4) times for a minimum
period of 5 weeks.
The learner will be required to:
- Monitor the arrival and departure times
- Compiling a report on all anomalies
There are currently no qualifications which provide for any direct horizontal, diagonal or vertical articulation with this qualification.
