Convey Dangerous Goods by Road / Hazchem Training

This one-day course covers the responsibilities, legal requirements and operating standards applicable to the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods by road. It addresses the requirements that apply to drivers and other parties involved in the movement of dangerous goods, including documentation, vehicle compliance, loading and off-loading, spill response and basic fire safety.
Accreditation
Liderazgo is accredited with the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) under accreditation number TETA13-327. The current accreditation scope includes Unit Standard 123259 - Convey Dangerous Goods by Road, at NQF Level 3 for 4 credits.
The current TETA accreditation extension is valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028, subject to the lifespan of the unit standard and legislative changes.
Liderazgo also holds Department of Transport approval under PrDP(D) 2013/116 for Dangerous Goods driver training.
Assessment Approach
Training is outcome-based and assessed through formative assessment, in-class assessments and summative assessment.

Course Overview
Individuals involved in the handling and transportation of dangerous goods have specific responsibilities and must comply with prescribed regulations and operating standards. These responsibilities apply to parties including consignors, manufacturers, importers, distributors, operators of road or rail vehicles or loading equipment, drivers and employers, and include requirements governing how dangerous goods are marked, packaged and transported.
The Law
Key legislative requirements for the transportation of dangerous goods by road
Dangerous Goods transportation is regulated under the National Road Traffic Act of 1996 and its applicable regulations. Drivers of vehicles transporting Dangerous Goods are required to hold the appropriate professional driving permit and complete training through an approved training body.
