Course Overview
The use of Dangerous Goods I.e. Chemicals has increased significantly over the years which in turn has increased the risks to Humans and the Natural Environment.
Another aspect of the increase in Dangerous Goods in our society is that the requirements for Handling and Storage of Dangerous Goods had to be looked at and specific controls put in place to protect people in the workplace as well as the environment.
To ensure Safe Handling / Loading and Off-Loading of Loads, Identifying suitable approaches to Securing of the Loads before, during and after travel to the desired destination, Storage of Dangerous Goods and General Loads, Identification of Hazardous Chemicals using the identification of Dangerous Goods and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, specific legislation and Codes of Practice have been put in place to control these activities. Regulation 277(2) of the National Road Traffic Act stipulates that companies or entities who are involved in the Handling, Storage and Transportation of Dangerous Goods must have Qualified Persons who will be responsible for these activities.
