This skills programme is made up of 3 compulsory modules. The course duration is 5 days and focuses on 3 areas, a knowledge-based module, a Practical Skill module and Workplace
Module. The Skills Programme is an alternative to ETDP Unit Standards.
Course Overview
Assessment skills form the basis of many other training related qualifications and skills sets and is a skill that leads to employability. Assessment skills enable people to monitor skills performance and provide feedback in a professional manner. The purpose of this Skills Programme is to develop competencies for people with an interest in using assessment tools
to promote learning.
Course Includes:
- 5 Days: Theory and In-Class Assessments
- 08:00 am – 16:00 pm (x3 15-minute breaks included)
- Final Examination to be held from 09:00 am – 12 am the following day
- Classes are subject to a maximum of 12 – 15 learners per facilitator
On the successful completion of this programme learners will be able to plan and conduct assessments in a variety of occupational contexts, to ensure that:
- Principles of good assessment practices are applied within the occupational learning framework.
- Evidence collection methods, tools and instruments are evaluated and adapted to meet contextual requirements.
- Principles of evidence collection are applied within contextual requirements.
- Assessment decisions are made and feedback formulated in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
- The domain of reflexive competence is assessed and documented.
- Documentation and records are completed and maintained in accordance with quality management system requirements.
- Past experience and prior learning are recognised, during the delivery of the learning intervention.
- Physical and psycho-social safety of the learners is assured.
- Learner progress and effectiveness of the intervention is measured continuously, and feedback is provided.

PURPOSE OF THE KNOWLEDGE MODULES

PURPOSE OF THE PRACTICAL SKILL MODULES
The focus of the learning in this module is on providing the learner an opportunity to gain competencies related to the use of assessment documents to plan and conduct assessment of
candidates against specific occupational competencies for national certification requirements.
The learner will be required to:
- Prepare for assessment
- Conduct the assessment
- Report and record assessments
- Review assessments

PURPOSE OF THE WORK EXPERIENCE MODULES
The focus of the work experience is on providing the learner an opportunity to:
Gain exposure and experience in the assessment of a candidate in an authentic assessment environment.
The learner will be required to:
- Plan for and conduct an assessment of three candidates under the guidance of a subject matter expert
